LLCCM was established after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in order to support vulnerable children and families, especially children who had lost their parents, those living on the streets, and those affected by HIV/AIDS and trauma. It began as a small initiative founded by a small group of Christians, aiming to bring God’s word closer to these children while also helping them heal and access basic needs, including antiretroviral treatment and education. Children were also reintegrated into families. LLCCM runs a centre that is currently hosting the YSM project together with AEBR and also train young women in agricultural practices, tailoring and hairdressing. As the years went on, new challenges emerged, including unintended pregnancies among adolescent girls. This led to the development of solutions through the NGIRANKUGIRE project.
