Snake Encounter is an NGO project founded in 2019 as a global collaboration between herpetologists in Denmark, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The aim of the project is based on a significant need for professional knowledge sharing within the field of co-existence with snakes, snake bite prevention and first aid in the event of a snake encounter and handling of venomous snakes by: 1. Educating local communities and schools about snakes in the selected areas 2. Prevention of snake bites, both in everyday life and in situations with close encounters with snakes. 3. Awareness raising on the ecological benefits of snakes to avoid snake killings 4. First aid in situations with snake bites 5 Assistance when finding snakes in houses, schools, businesses, hotels, etc. Including reintroduction, in collaboration with local authorities, of snakes in relevant areas 6. Development of an image database with registrations of snake finds (both dead and alive) and cases of snake bites.
