Equality Movement was found as a community-based initiative to improve the livelihood and rights realisation of as well as service provision for the LGBTIQ+ community. Over the years, especially since 2016 when the first contract for encompassing HIV/AIDS service provision was signed with the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), the organisation grew rapidly and became the biggest LGBTQI+ organisation in Georgia and even the Caucasus. Equality Movement’s vision is “to live in a society in which people’s gender identity or sexual orientation is not a cause for exhibiting violence or other forms of aggression, and where women and the LGBTQ community are equal members of the society.” Therefore, the organisation works in the following strategic directions: · Providing members of the LGBTQI+ community with health, psychosocial and legal services. · Mobilising, empowering, and integrating members of the LGBTQI+ community. · Advocating for the formation of an equal and supportive environment for the LGBTQI+ community. · Organisational development and strengthening of Equality Movement. In 2023, 2024 and 2025, Equality Movement provided services to approximately 20.000 individuals per year.
