TaTEDO-SESO is a non-profit, mission-driven organization dedicated to expanding equitable access to sustainable energy services in Tanzania. Initially registered in 1990, it has over 35 years of experience in promoting sustainable energy for poverty reduction, environmental conservation, and climate resilience. It was re-registered in line with NGO Act in 2022. It is based in Dar es Salaam with support offices in Dodoma and Kilimanjaro. Vision: A Tanzania, where everyone has access to sustainable energy services while conserving the environment, creating economic opportunities, and addressing climate change. Mission: to empower stakeholders and remove barriers across the sustainable energy value chain through technical support, capacity building, and the creation of an enabling environment that enhances access to modern energy services. Primary purpose: to improve the quality of life of Tanzanians by increasing access to sustainable energy services that create employment and income opportunities, reduce dependence on wood fuels and imported fossil fuels, protect the environment, and contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Emphasis is placed on improving the livelihoods of women and rural communities. Activities focus on 4 core pillars: energy access, renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean cooking - all anchored to SDGs and drive to combat climate change. Participatory energy assessments and planning, developing sustainable low-carbon energy technologies, strengthening supply and distribution networks, raising awareness, providing trainings, linking energy enterprises and households with financing opportunities, supporting sustainable energy entrepreneurship, conducting applied research, disseminates knowledge, building national and international partnerships, advocating for supportive energy, climate and environmental policies, regulations and incentives.
