Arunala is a relatively new social impact organizaton established in May 2025 in Indonesia. Its founding drew on decades of collective experience among its team in fields such as social protecton, ageing policy, gender equality, and inclusive development although the legal entity itself is just less than a year old. Arunala’s core purpose is to redefine how society views and supports ageing; by shifting from seeing ageing as a burden to seeing it as a stage of life full of dignity, purpose, and contribution. Arunala Institute embraces the idea that ageing should come with thoughtful systems of care, respect, connection, and opportunity. Arunala engages in several interconnected types of work: 1. Public Engagement and Education: raising awareness about ageing, caregiving, and inclusive care through dialogues, media, and public communication. 2. Evidence-Driven Research and Data Collection: conducting research and gathering data on ageing demographics, care systems, and the economic value/impact of caregiving. 3. Strategic Policy Advocacy and Advisory: advising governments, development partners, private sectors, academics and civil society on policies for eldercare, social protection, sustainable care work, and intergenerational wellbeing. 4. Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration: working with partners across sectors including government agencies (e.g., Bappenas/Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Population and Family Development and Ministry of Manpower), philanthropists, the private sector, donors, media, and the public to co-create longterm and sustainable solutions. 5. Care Ecosystem Development: promoting ideas and frameworks to build an integrated, accessible, affordable care ecosystem in Indonesia that supports both older adults and caregivers.
