Founded in November 2022, Najjeza Valley Foundation is non profit organisation that is dedicated to empowering children and their families in Uganda about the climate change crisis, its mitigation and adaptation. Our role in the climate crisis has three parts: awareness, education, and engagement. First, we must make sure that our children and their families are aware and educated about the climate crisis. Then, this education, if presented properly, will bring about engagement and action of children and their families in mitigation, copying and building resilience against the climate crisis. The organisation has in the last one year conducted close to 20 climate change awareness visits in 5 primary schools in Wakiso Distirct. Beyond awarness, the organisation has additionally supported a 15 member women group and schools helping them set up their own organic gardens and bamboo nursery through providing extension services. Moreover, our staff have attended and visited a number of agricultural fairs and environment focused training events localy in Uganda and Denmark (Folkemodet) where they have been exposed to hands on knowledge, new experiences and deep insights in smart agriculural practices, and climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. The foundation currently runs a 10 acre demonstration mixed farm in Najjeza, Wakiso district which has goats, chicken, a bamboo nursery, a coffee nursery and a flower nursery. The foundation has dedicated its work towards transforming the farm into an environment awareness and out-schooling demostartion program curated around climate change mitigation and adaptation learning for children and their families.
