The project empowers communities residing in degraded peatlands around Sebangau National Park, Indonesia, to respond to climate change impacts. Key contributions include increasing local knowledge, developing adaptive strategies, and advocating for the allocation of resources to local adaptation. Additionally, the project promotes collaboration on fire-risk management, establishes long-term forest management plans, enhances self-dependency and increases the adaptive capacity and long-term resilience of local livelihoods through integrated and affected village planning. This aims to strengthen local socio-economic and ecological resilience, making communities capable of addressing climate challenges independently and securing support for their contribution to Indonesia's Forestry and Other Land Uses Net Sink 2030 targets. Dissemination of best practices across communities, relevant fora and decision-making bodies, enables scaling of community-driven approaches to build resilience.
