Resume

This programme will train six Dalit human rights defenders in the United Nations (UN) Forum on Minority Issues and Business and Human Rights Forum. The outcome will be enhancing knowledge and advocacy skills to enable them to engage with the UN and Member States on issues that affect the Dalit community, to raise awareness and place caste discrimination on the international human rights agenda. To improve the lives of Dalit human rights defenders, this exposure will help participants understand how international institutions approach human rights, equality and social justice issues. This understanding will enable participants to strengthen their work at the local level by applying international human rights principles and advocacy strategies within Dalit communities. Engagement with the UN will empower participants and their organisations to use UN human rights mechanisms to complement their work. The partners will be human rights defenders from six member organisations.
