Resume

The Danish House in Palestine (DHIP), in collaboration with the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center (KSCC), will translate excerpts from Yahya Hassan's Danish poetry to Arabic. This translation will foster cross-cultural dialogue, promote diverse voices, and connect the Palestinian diaspora. It will also honour Yahya Hassan's legacy, as it will allow a broader audience to access and engage with the profound emotions and societal insights that Hassan's poetry encapsulates. His poems are highly relevant to a Palestinian audience, touching on themes of identity, displacement, and marginalisation, which resonate deeply with Palestinian society. We will publish approximately 35-40 of his poems in a book and hold a release event at the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Ramallah, as well as workshops focused on reading and interpreting his work. Furthermore, we will distribute books to community centres across Palestine to extend the outreach of the project.
