Following the 6.7 magnitude earthquake in Kunar Province, eastern Afghanistan, this rapid response project delivers urgent, life-saving support to 200 households (around 1,400 people) whose homes and livelihoods were destroyed. Each family will receive 11,400 AFN in multi-purpose cash assistance to meet critical needs for food, temporary shelter or rent, medicine, heating fuel, and clothing during the harsh winter. The intervention is jointly implemented by Rebuild Aid (Denmark) and Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization (Afghanistan) through a transparent and accountable payment system, ensuring timely delivery, financial traceability, and protection of recipients. Activities include verification, fair beneficiary selection, coordination with OCHA and DoDM, and continuous feedback from communities. The project safeguards dignity, prevents harmful coping strategies, and contributes to early recovery in line with DERF’s principles of rapid, ethical, and locally led humanitarian action.
