The aim of this project is to enhance the resilience of 1.460 households and their nutrition gardens in the flood, cyclone and drought-prone areas in Baliapal. This is done through training in and testing of various climate adaptation methods, which the participants will apply to their nutrition gardens. Subsequently, they will have discussions in existing Self Help Groups. Evaluations of each method will contribute to the development of a best practice manual in climate adaptation methods for nutrition gardens. The manual will include four topics: drought, flooding, cyclones and finally advocacy/local schemes. Establishment of community seed banks will enhance the sustainability of the nutrition gardens and provide a low-cost opportunity for HH to (re)establish nutrition gardens with carefully selected seed combinations. Thus, the project will enhance local capacity to better adapt to the climate, as well as equip our local partner with expert knowledge on climate adaptation methods.
