Resume

This programme is based on the success of the School Based Agricultural Project implemented in 5 schools in Lupane District. Lupane officials have requested the concept spread out to other schools. Four new schools will consolidate the School Farm concept and be linked to each other in a network, and receive training in Conservation Agriculture as well as economic management. The School Farms will produce a nutritious supplement to the school feeding programme year-round with aid from drip irrigation. Farmers will via field days be invited to participate in Farmer Family Learning Groups. The Lupane Women’s Centre is the main partner, and the programme will collaborate with the district’s extension services and Lupane State University. The programme will contribute to a healthier life for 1000 school children, an improved agricultural profit for the local farmers and learnings from the school farms will be spread to farmers in the district and advocated to educational authorities.
