Overall targets
To ensure comprehensive sexual and gender-based education for all youth in Egypt as means to eliminate violence against women
Immediate targets
Immediate Objective 1: Task Forces around Egypt have ownership of the gender education module and actively promote it at the national level and at governorate levels. Immediate Objective 2: A ToT program has been implemented for 200 educators and youth workers to have the skills to include the gender education manual in their activities with youth and to promote it among peers. Immediate objective 3: A bottom-up demand for more gender education is created by introducing concepts of gender equality and gender discrimination to Egyptian youth and educators and youth workers through an online social media campaign on gender equality and gender-based violence.
Target groups
? Members of Central Task Force: Members in the Central Task Force will be based on either interest showed during the implementation of the 2017 Pilot Project and/or their ability to open doors to other influential policy makers at central and local level, as well as their willingness to push a progressive agenda in Egypt. In short, Task Force members are gatekeepers who can lobby for the uptake of the ToT program and the gender education manual through their contacts at central and local (governmental) institutions. ? Members of the Local Task Forces: Local gatekeeprs. Similar criteria as for the members of the Central task force will be used when selecting members for the new Local Task Forces. First, contacts out of the networks of Tadwein and the members of the Central Task Force will be approached, who can then on their turn invite people from their own local network. ? Duty bearers: representatives and members of relevant governmental and non-governmental institutions, at central and local level, as well as teachers and members of school boards. ? Educators and youth workers: The planned intervention targets educators and youth workers interacting with youth, whether in formal or informal venues, such as national and community schools, youth centers and recreational clubs. ? Egyptian youth: The immediate end beneficiaries in this intervention are at least 1900 young men and women from lower and middle-class segments, who will receive high quality gender education with the aim of decreasing the high levels of VAW in Egypt.

This project will contribute to ensuring comprehensive sexual and gender-based education for all youth in Egypt as means to eliminate violence against women. It will do so by collaborating with key governemnt and civil society actors on disseminating a sexual- and gender education module throughout educational institutions across Egypt such as in national and community schools, youth centers and recreational clubs. 10 Task Forces will be established consisting of key duty bearers such as government institutions, NGOs and CBOs. They will have ownership and be responsible to promote the gender education module at national and local levels and give access for further training of educators and youth workers. 200 educators and youth workers will be trained in the sexual- and gender-based module to be able to provide high quality gender education to youth between the age of 10 – 16. An online media campaign will target youth, youth workers and educators to promote the module and mobilise a bottom-up demand for high quality sexual- and gender education in Egypt.
