Resume

The main objective of LAUGH is to strengthen local capacity and improve oral health knowledge, hygiene practices, and access to basic dental care among children and communities in Kumbungu, Tolon, and Savelugu districts in Northern Ghana. Many children in basic schools suffer from preventable tooth decay and gum disease, affecting their health, confidence, and school attendance. The project will promote better oral hygiene, early detection of dental conditions, and timely referrals, helping to reduce pain, absenteeism from schools, and stigma among children. Through a partnership between local and international actors, the project will strengthen local capacity for dental health education and test simple community-centred approaches. The project will contribute to healthier children, improved school participation, stronger community ownership of oral health promotion, and a model that can be expanded to other districts.
