Resume

This pilot project is implemented in Chirirbandar, Bangladesh. It tests climate adaptation strategies and methodologies to guide the scale-up and design of a larger project. Chirirbandar is surrounded by rivers and is severely affected by climate change. Floods are intensifying due to an increase in adverse weather events and meltwater from the Himalayas. The project targets 100 extreme poor women from 3 flood-prone, underserved villages. This includes young women and women of minority religions or tribes. The project builds the women’s capacity in the areas of climate adaptation, income, and agency. Through an experimental learning approach, they will learn to protect their homestead production from flood. During the process, they will apply a business mindset, learn about rights and responsibilities, and form networks for early warning and liaison with local government. The implementing partners will likewise build their own capacity to comply with CISU’s management guidelines.
