Resume

The project empowers rural teachers and Indigenous youth in Cusco, Peru, to become “forest guardians” who prevent fires, restore degraded land, and promote climate-resilient livelihoods rooted in Andean-Amazonian ecological knowledge. Through teacher training, co-created bilingual learning materials, a youth-run Environmental Youth Community Center (EYCC), and a native-species nursery, the project builds local capacity for education, civic engagement, and reforestation. Drawing on peer learning from Bolivian SAFCA partners, the project integrates south-south knowledge sharing and community leadership. It strengthens civil society by linking environmental education to practical action and enabling a new generation of youth and educators equipped to protect forests and lead change in their communities.
