Resume

The Program aims to advance SDG 6 (WASH) in East and Southern Africa by integrating gender, climate change, and Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) as cross-cutting priorities. It leverages strategies from four member-based WASH network organizations in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Zambia, with a larger organization in Somalia. The overall goal is to foster socio-economic development through national advocacy for enhanced WASH services for underserved communities and capacity building for local communities and government officials. By combining top-down and bottom-up approaches, the Program seeks systemic, sector-wide changes and improved local WASH governance and community engagement. Special focus is given to access for girls and women, climate-resilient WASH infrastructure, and conflict-preventing IWRM. The Program introduces an ambitious learning protocol, distilling country-level theme-focused learnings with the aim of promoting adoption of tested WASH advocacy approaches.
