In Bosnia and Herzegovina, nearly half of all women have experienced some form of violence, including intimate partner violence, yet only a minority receive adequate, qualified support. VAW survivors face significant barriers to escaping abuse and building sustainable lives free from violence and trauma, and the road to recovery is often long and challenging. Even among VAW survivors who go to a shelter, the way back into society after a shelter stay can be difficult. Through this project, Foundation United Women and Danner aim to strengthen after-shelter care by exchanging best practices, implementing after-shelter care activities to women and their children, professionalising support procedures, and conducting local advocacy, with the long-term goal of improving the recovery outlooks for survivors of violence against women.
