The TARGET Project is a five-year initiative led by CLIP, a Ghanaian civil society organization, in partnership with Ghana Friends (GV). It supports 900 climate vulnerable smallholder farmers in Northern Ghana, mainly women and youth, to strengthen their organization through cooperatives, improve production, and access markets. The cooperatives will secure women and youth leadership and access to resources, thereby giving them a stronger voice in local decision-making. Farmers will gain skills in governance, business, and financial literacy, and access an investment fund for essential infrastructure, e.g. irrigation. By introducing green houses, cold storage, and aggregation centers, the project aims to cut post-harvest losses by 30% and raise incomes by 25%. TARGET promotes climate adaptation, women and youth empowerment, while sharing lessons through an implementation toolkit and policy dialogues to inspire replication nationwide under Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy Program.
