Resume

The project aims to empower residents from six slum communities in Cotonou, Benin, to identify and address local urban challenges. Through a one-week workshop and follow-up activities, participants will gain skills in problem analysis, project development and advocacy. The project targets members of the Hazobit federation, consisting of community organisations established by marginalized slum dwellers living in precarious conditions, and seeks to strengthen their role in local development and dialogue with authorities. The workshop aims at enabling each participating community organisation to address pressing issues in their urban communities and formulate small but transformative development projects. The project is a collaboration between Architects Without Borders, HaZoBit, and their partner organisation UrbaSEN from Senegal, combining local insight, technical expertise, and participatory planning to promote sustainable, community-driven urban change.
