Ensemble Pour Goma (EPG) is a local civil society organisation based in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, established to promote the protection, rights and dignity of civilians affected by armed conflict and insecurity. The organisation operates in contexts characterised by displacement, violence and human rights violations, where civilian populations face acute protection risks and limited access to justice and assistance. EPG’s purpose is to support war-affected communities through advocacy, protection-oriented actions and community engagement, while strengthening local civil society responses to conflict and humanitarian crises. The organisation works closely with victims of conflict, human rights activists and community leaders to document abuses, raise awareness of rights and support access to protection mechanisms. In situations of armed conflict and escalating insecurity, EPG carries out activities focused on civilian protection and risk reduction. These include monitoring and documentation of human rights violations, support to vulnerable individuals and families affected by violence, and advocacy aimed at improving protection of civilians and accountability. EPG also plays a role in early warning and information-sharing within communities, helping to identify emerging threats and reduce harm. EPG’s primary activities include community-based protection initiatives, human rights advocacy, support to war victims, emergency assistance to individuals at risk, and capacity strengthening of local activists and civil society networks. In high-risk situations, EPG implements emergency measures such as temporary relocation and safety support for staff, volunteers and human rights defenders facing immediate threats, in order to preserve lives and maintain continuity of its work.
