The Thulani Maseko Foundation (TMF) was founded in 2023 in response to the ongoing impunity of perpetrators of political violence in Swaziland, and the assassination of renowned human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko. The TMF’s vision is a Swaziland where justice prevails, human rights are respected, and victims of political violence are afforded the utmost accountability and reparation. The mission of TMF is to: Preservation and maintenance of Thulani’s legacy for protection of human rights, the rule of law and accountable governance using peaceful and non-violent means including dialogue. Advocate for the rights of victims of political violence. Work towards holding perpetrators of political violence accountable. Support policies and mechanisms that protect human rights defenders and deter political violence. Foster a culture of remembrance and non-recurrence to honor the victims of political violence. The objectives of the Foundation include, but not be limited to, the following: Establishment of the Thulani Maseko School of Political Dialogue Programme, including the Annual Thulani Maseko Memorial Lecture, and the bi-Annual Summit of Traditional Leaders and AU Governance Architecture to create policy and intellectual space for traditional leaders role in strengthening rather weakening AU pursuit for democracy and sustainable peace and security. Providing legal support and advocacy for victims and their families. Engaging in and promoting research on political violence and its impact on societies. Collaborating with other organizations and entities to further the cause of justice and accountability
