National Network of Local Philanthropy Development

The National Network of Local Philanthropy Development (NNLPD) is a network organisation uniting community foundations registered across Ukraine to develop local philanthropy, engage residents, and support civic initiatives. These community foundations are registered COs and NGOs based in the local communities. Their purpose is to identify local needs, directly mobilise and use charitable donations and funds, while also having experience in regranting funds to local community members to address critical community issues. Founded in 2014 when the Association of Community Foundations of Ukraine was registered, the Network grew through joint programmes such as Youth Initiative Banks and the Safe Community project. Since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, NNLPD has led a humanitarian response with its members, expanding into advocacy for localisation, IDP support, and recovery of de-occupied communities. NNLPD's core value lies in its network-driven programming, which connects 22 community foundation CSOs across Ukraine to jointly design and deliver initiatives at scale. Flagship network projects include: Harvest Way: an agricultural humanitarian programme supporting war-affected communities; Youth Initiative Banks: engaging young people aged 15–24 in local civic action; Resource Hub: an online platform for shared knowledge and tools; and Coordinated humanitarian response network: mobilised since 2022, through which member foundations jointly delivered emergency assistance, IDP support, and recovery aid across affected communities. Through these network mechanisms, NNLPD builds foundations' organisational capacity, facilitates peer learning and joint advocacy, and channels international donor support directly into community-level action, making the network itself a key vehicle for coordinated, sustainable local response.
