Fundación ALALAY (ALALAY), which means “I feel cold” in indigenous Aymara language, is a civil society organization founded in 1990 with the mission to restore the fundamental rights of children living on the streets in La Paz, Bolivia. ALALAY’s vision is to achieve an effective realization of the rights of girls, boys, adolescents living in conditions of poverty, marginalization, violence and neglect. A significant part of their target group lives in or are in danger of living in street situations. ALALAY works within the framework of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and contribute to the achievement of SDG 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 in Bolivia through a HRBA approach. ALALAY’S vision is achieved through direct actions in the Departments of La Paz, Tarija and Santa Cruz in three strategic areas: Prevention, Protection and Advocacy, giving space for active child participation in all areas. In Protection, spaces of security and trust are established where children overcome their conditions of vulnerability in order to be the protagonists of their development and exercise their rights and active citizenship. In Prevention, personal and social skills are developed through socio-sports schools and spaces for children's participation. In Advocacy, children participate actively demanding their rights in the pursuit of strengthening the legal framework and protection systems to improve the conditions of the most vulnerable children together with allies in networks.
