Overall targets
The objective of the intervention is to strengthen the integrity of the World Forum of Fisher Peoples and allied movements and organisations, and to deepen their cooperation and common understanding of a) the political drivers of ocean, land and water grabbing, b) the International Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-scale Fisheries (SSF Guidelines - endorsed by the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) in 2014), and c) the innovative approaches of Food Sovereignty and Agroecology in a context of small-scale fisheries and other smallholders. The intervention is envisioned to take place back-to-back with the planned General Assembly of World Forum of Fisher Peoples (WFFP) in November 2017.
Immediate targets
• Develop and agree to a clear position on the contents of the Global Strategic Framework of the SSF guidelines • Discuss and refine a political position on Ocean Grabbing • Discuss and refine a political position on Food Sovereignty and Agroecology • Produce a statement representing the views and positions of WFFP and WFF • Table the position documents for endorsement at the WFFP general assembly.
Target groups
Workshop participants includes one man and one woman from each of the WFFP member organisations.

Denne intervention vil styrke den globale bevægelse af småfiskere ved at udvikle samarbejdet mellem World Forum of Fisher Peoples (WFFP) og allierede bevægelser, og ved at styrke den fælles forståelse og handlekompetence inden for a) de politiske processer bag ocean, land og water grabbing, b) FAOs internationale retningslinjer for små fiskere (SSF Guidelines, 2014) og c) promovering af madsuverænitet og agroøkologi som innovative tilgange til at opnå klimaretfærdighed. Interventionen indgår i afholdelsen af WFFPs generalforsamling og 20 års jubilæum der afholdes i dagene omkring den 21. november – world fisheries day.
