Resume

The civic space in Southern Africa is shrinking and it is becoming increasingly challenging for the partners of Global Aktion to fight for social justice in the region. To protect and expand civic space, there is a need to develop the capacity of social movements and civil society organisations and increase collaboration between them. Therefore, Global Aktion and its 13 partner organisations will gather physically at a partner seminar in South Africa to participate in workshops, group reflections and other relevant activities. The impacts of the intervention will go beyond the seminar, as there will be a follow-up phase where working groups established at the seminar will work towards common goals. By developing the capacity of a significant number of civil society organisations and social movements in Southern Africa and furthering collaboration between them, this intervention contributes to strengthening civil society and civic organising in the region.
