IAS with local partners in Kenya, South Sudan, Sudan and Tanzania will spend the next three years from 2019-2021 to improve the educational opportunities for children with disabilities, girls and children in nomadic families. Mobilising of the communities through awareness creation is expected to create a movement for change where ignorance and negative attitudes towards these children are replaced with engagement at household level to get these children to school, where teachers are trained in inclusive education, facilities and environment are made accessible, and the curriculum and assessment consider all learners. Evidence from the ground will be used to lobby through regional, national and international networks for the implementation of policies, financing of education, and disability mainstreaming for the realisation of quality inclusive education (SDG 4).
